Nothing special...
It always surprises me how bars like this get "voted no 1 gay bar in" whatever city. I travel all over the country for work, and stop in as many gay bars as possible in a city, and while I have been to the JR's in Dallas and had an "ok" time, it wasn't anything special either. At Denver's JR's the draft was warm, drinks way overpriced and weak, moody bartenders at best, and you have that clientele that think they are "at the place to be" with that "i'm someone at that place to be" attitude. Might as well go to the Applebees bar area and drink, this feels like the fast food chain of gay bars...
Didnt have the best time
This place is a nice venue, clean bathrooms and reasonably priced drinks. The men however, are all a bunch of twinks or twink wannabes. Consodering i am 24 and not a twink, nobody even looked at me. I had two beers and left to go to wrangler, where i had a blast!
Once the place to be, now the place to avoid!
Sometime change is a good thing but this time it should be closed. Jrs has lost all the fun and become a bitch bar. A must not see.
New Management
Jr's used to be the place to go. There used to be drinks at a great price, temperature reasonable, staff not so bitchy. Every since they got new management, the drinks have....well lets call them straight drinks, temperature is way too hot. I always had to wear a short sleeve shirt in the middle of winter because they wont turn on the AC but if you go out side, you freeze to death. Then there is the staff. The bar backs are great but the Bar Tenders are not. Now they give you a weird look when you ask whats on special, or get mad at you when you want to try a new drink and ask whats good. I used to come on Thursday's nights. I don't any more because the place is dead. I was there the other night. The place was so dead at 11:30pm, I was dancing in the middle of the bar with a few friends. That is sad since Jr's doesn't have a dance floor. Until they received new management, or change things, I would not recommend to go there.
Good for Twinks -- I'm NOT
Twinks -- bring it on! This bar has great STRONG drinks, but twinks make me feel sober. This is the closest bar to my house and I rarely go there. On Fridays (in the summer), you can have burger across the street at MARCZYK -- the best meat market in town (real meat, not men)!!! Excellent bar to stand and model and watch the video. Bartenders are awesome and fast -- love you all!
