CHEERS TO THE COMPOUND - BASIX!!!!! I am honored to have ALWAYS experienced MANY dozens of SAFE and fun times with my friends for many years in your establishment. I had a great time in your establishment with my friends and out-of-town family at PRIDE 2015 last weekend. Through the years (and the years to come), my friends and I have spent and will spend many more thousands of dollars at your establishment. My friends and I are honored to enjoy many MORE great times in a SAFE environment in your bar/nightclub. Again, congratulations on keeping your customers SAFE AND HAPPY!! My hundreds of friends and I hope you had a very profitable & Happy 40th Anniversary Denver Pride celebration for 2015. We also wish you & your honest staff a SAFE AND PROFITABLE SUMMER. My hundreds of friends and I will surely be in your bar/nightclub this weekend to celebrate the landslide Supreme Court decision of legalized marriages for all gay Americans. The decision should have been made many, many decades ago. . I constantly have dozens of friends and family visit me every month and I will always refer them to your great establishment for fine refreshments, and stellar and SAFE atmosphere. Anyway, thank you for keeping all your single and married customers SUPER SAFE and happy!!!! CHEERS TO THE COMPOUND-BASIX!!!

      the dogpound....
This place always seems to have an unfriendly undercurrent. It's chopped up, parking is bad, I have NEVER had fun's exactly what I DO NOT LIKE. In my opinion, and to each their own, it attracts a bizarre crowd.....not trendy, more dysfunctional. I generally find myself talking people out of going here when I am out as a group. Restrooms are filthy. Lockers on the wall for whatever reason.......I have NEVER seen anyone use one. It's a place I prefer leaving from....always. I guess on a plus side, I remember they use to open at 6am and the diehards would return....that's it.

I visited this establishment on the evening in which daylight savings time was to go into effect. I was with a small group of friends and we ordered drinks. Approximately ten minutes after we had gotten our drinks, while playing a game of pool, the bartender announced that the bar would be closing a half hour early and that everyone in the bar had three minutes in which to finish drinks and "make [our] way to the exit or [he] would get into trouble.". Exactly three minutes later he came over to my group and physically removed drinks from our hands and informed us that we had to leave. When a member of my group asked if we could finish our drinks quick since we had just paid for them, he responded, "I'm sorry, you have to leave now or I'll get into trouble. I may be a fag, but I'm not a stupid fag and this place will not see any of my business again. Bad business is bad business and in the time of a poor economy, only establishments that earn my cash, will see it.

      Love this place
I've been to a lot of bars in Denver and I never danced at them, until I went to the Compound. Bartenders are great, drinks are good , and a lot of different people. Young and old. Love this place

      always fun
If you're ok with smaller places, that's the great place to go dancing. Music is much milder than in Tracks. Bar in dancefloor area sucks - takes forever to get a drink. Go to the bar by the entrance - that one is more respectful. They only take cash though. And IMPORTANT - do not park across the second street on the north west side parking lot. My car got towed away!!! But crowed is very nice. I love going there to dance!

Not what it use to be
Service was ok and bar was full of old timers. Had one annoying loud straight guy. Nothing special. Couple of years ago it was bumping but now not so.

      Nice place...
and friendly servers. I have had good experiences here every time I've gone in with a friend for a few drinks. We usually end up staying and dancing the night away on the large dance floor. Great DJ and music. Lots of fun! I have met some great guys here.

Not bad for the middle of the day
Just went in for one near-beer in the middle of the day - of course not too many guys that time of day but one really friendly Hispanic guy, a local who told me all about the different bars in town - seemed like it could be a great place at night when it was a little busier - kinda dark and slick. Bartender seemed kind of bitter or dissatisfied or something - but I will always give folk another chance - you never know when they're just having a bad day, just like we all do.

Improved facility, but not that busy
I stopped by on a Saturday night while in town for a quick weekend trip. Not very busy (seems Friday is the best night here), good drinks, friendly service, the new patio is an asset. Will check it out next trip back to Denver and try to make it on a Friday.

      Nicknamed the "Dogpound" . . .
The title of my review sounds mean, but that's what the locals call the Compound. The only time I've gone and had fun was on Friday nights (bouncing between Boyztown and here). Their dance floor isn't all the big, but one of the few places to dance in Denver on a Friday night and the sound system and music are pretty good. Drinks here are overpriced for Denver standards, so I tend to drink at Boyztown and dance at Compound. Nice patio area. Very ethnically diverse crowd which is nice. Also seems to be a creeper magnet though.

      So far so good...
I have only been once so far since I got to Denver, but plan on going back and will update my review. Great drink prices, way friendly bartenders and a great mixed, friendly crowd! I had a great time and plan on going again tomorrow!

      Missing bartender
It was a great place full of fun and one incredibly hot bartender that me and all my friends used love watch in action. Tall, dark, handsome Natalio; Sadly he is no longer there

Though cleaner than some, service is lacking.
The biggest drawback is the quality of the bartenders. The three or four times we have been there it took an average of 10 minutes to be served a drink.. The bartenders are more intersted in socializing with their friends or hitting on the younger guys. Truly disappointed as this place is so close to where we live.
