***GET TO KNOW THE NIGHT'S TALENT***
HEADLINER: HARRISON RAINS
Harrison Rains has been a stand-up comedian for more than twelve years. A regular at Denver Comedy works. Harrison is also the co-creator and founder of the Denver based comedy show, “Mile High Sci Fi.” Started Nine years ago, MHSF has gone from small venues with two to three main players to the Alamo Draft House and the Denver Film Center. Now with four shows monthly, sponsorship from five local companies ( including Dales Pale Ale and Peach Street distillers) and a rotating crew of five of Denver’s best local comedians . Mile High Sci Fi was voted “best of” in the Westword three years in a row and has performed at the Red Rocks Amphitheater to a crowd of over eight thousand.
FEATURE: MIKE JONES
MIKE just left the nest and moved to big city of Denver. At the age of 28 he still asks as many questions as he did as a kid, while his animated personality resembles that of a cartoon character and his shaky stage presences that are fueled by caffeine keeps audiences ENTHRALLED (5$word!!) as to what’s next. Mike’s witty observations and overly positive off the wall views about everyday life keeps audience members rolling in laughter. Mike will keep you on the edge of your seat wanting MORE!!
Mike has opened for some great Comedians like John Witherspoon, Gay Owen, and John Caparulo
GUEST: JORDAN WIELEBA
Since 2006, comedian Jordan Wieleba has been bringing her edgy and fierce style of comedy to audiences across Colorado. In 2011, Jordan came out as transsexual and has since been educating and entertaining crowds about the lifestyle by incorporating it in her material. Not your average comedian, Jordan's unique look on life sets her apart from norm.
Jordan performs regularly throughout Colorado and is making a name for herself as a popular comedian, LGBTQ advocate and positive "possibility model" for trans* youth through the booming comedy scene in Denver. Her act has been described as "real", "graceful", "fearless", "universally relatable" and having a "brilliant resilience".
In 2013, Jordan was awarded a Westword Best of Denver award for "Best Transgender Comedian". She is currently writing her first book amongst other projects. From 2013-2014, Jordan ran the popular "Altered Shtick", a live comedy/variety show that featured performers from the LGBTQ community and is currently running the monthly comedy/variety show "Something Fabulous".
GUEST: CHRIS CARLTON
At first glance, Denver Comedian , Chris Carlton's 6'4" frame, shaved head and tattooed arms make him look more like he should be checking IDs at the door than telling jokes on stage. His seedy past experiences on the mean city streets give him a very unique perspective to the world around him. His style is aggressive, animated and maybe even a little hostile... at the same time, his likable, relatable charm, quick wit ,playful personality and interactive stage presence instantly puts audiences at ease, gets them involved and makes him a crowd favorite on any stage he touches.
GUEST: MARA WILES
A classic middle child, Mara Wiles parlayed her need for attention into a comedy career and so far so good! Mara got her start with Denver improv group, Impulse Theater and from there became involved with Denver’s thriving stand-up scene. She has opened for the likes of Andy Kindler, Chris Fairbanks, Dan St. Germain and Adam Cayton-Holland. Mara was voted Best Comic at the 2011 Laugh Track comedy festival and was a part of the inaugural High Plains Comedy Festival in 2013. Mara can be found performing on Denver’s best shows like the Grawlix, The Denver Improv, Comedy Works, The Fine Gentleman’s Club “Too Much Fun” and Arguments and Grievances: Debate Show. Mara is also a founding member of Moxie! her sketch comedy duo with fellow comic Kristin Rand. Together, they run a successful monthly sketch show called Moxie! Presents The Kristin and Mara Show! and a bi-monthly variety show called the Secret Talent Show where comics show off their secret talent. They are currently in pre-production of the first season of their web series.
When Mara isn’t busy with comedy she is walking dogs, downing iced coffees like a boss and attempting to do yoga in her living room.
