Oct. 1st:
MANIAC (1980), D: William Lustig.
One of the greatest slasher films of all time! A disturbed New Yorker played by Joe Spinell (Godfather, Taxi Driver, Forbidden Zone) stalks the streets adding to his growing collection of mannequins and women's scalps. Special makeup and effects by the master Tom Savini, score by Jay Chattaway. I warned you not to go out tonight! Presented on 35mm!
And local sickos ALREADY DEAD will be playing at 9:30p before MANIAC in the theater! Already Dead is a band not trying to replicate or reincarnate a dead genre of music, in fact Already Dead excels at channeling a facet of esoteric avant-garde that truly is hard to describe using predetermined musical cues. The best way to describe it is actually through film; imagine the surreal, violent world of David Lynch mixed with early French expressionism and you might just entertain the idea of "dancing" to this. Featuring members of City Hunter, Cadaver Dog, Culture Shock and Civilized.
Oct. 8th:
POSSESSION (1981), D: Andrzej Zulawski. A woman (Isabelle Adjani) starts exhibiting increasingly disturbing behavior after asking her husband (Sam Neill) for a divorce. Suspicions of infidelity soon give way to something much more sinister.
Cello master, dinosaur whisperer and hunk IAN COOKE will be playing at 9:30p in the theater before the movie! http://www.iancookemusic.com/
Oct. 15th:
DER FAN (1982), D: Eckhart Schmidt.
Fanatic teen Simone is obsessed with an intriguing German musician by the name of "R" who she believes sings directly to her. When her dream finally comes true of meeting him, neither is quite what the other expected.
FRENCH KETTLE STATION (Luke Thinnes) playing at 9:30p before the film! His favorite film is REFLECTIONS OF EVIL so that's all you need to know to know this will be off the fucking hook!! https://frenchkettlestation.bandcamp.com/
Oct. 22nd:
ANGST (1983), D: Gerald Kargl.
A troubled man gets released from prison and starts taking out his sadistic fantasies on an unsuspecting family living in a secluded house. Scored by German composer Klaus Schulze (MANHUNTER), co-written and filmed by Zbigniew Rybczynski.
And local industrial noise duo ECHO BEDS will be joining us again to play at 9:30p in the theater before the movie! If you were able to catch them before PRINCE OF DARKNESS, you know they are one of Denver's most powerful acts.
