Tranzcend Presents: Once Upon a Time (A benefit for LGBTQ youth at Urban Peak)

TRANZCEND PRESENTS: ONCE UPON A TIME A Drag and Burlesque Benefit for LGBTQ Youth at Urban Peak Denver, CO December 15, 2012 9pm – Tranzcend Drag and Burlesque Troupe presents “Once Upon a Time,” a storybook-themed benefit for LGBTQ youth at Urban Peak. Tranzcend is Denver’s premier drag and burlesque troupe featuring your favorite drag and gender performers. Several special guests will also appear in the show. “Urban Peak helps homeless youth and youth at risk of being homeless overcome real-life challenges by providing essential services and a safe community, empowering them to become self-sufficient adults” (taken from Urban Peak’s website). Over 1,000 youth are homeless on any given night in Denver, and approximately 30% of youth experiencing homelessness identify as LGBTQ. Urban Peak provides LGBTQ friendly spaces, specialized LGBTQ case management, an inclusive transgender dorm and shelter policy, LGBTQ Competency Training to all staff, and connections and transportation to local LGBTQ organizations and support groups. “Once Upon a Time” will raise funds to establish a library for LGBTQ youth at Urban Peak. Cover for the event is $5. You can also help out by bringing a book to donate. The show will take place at Tranzcend’s home, Eden Bar and Cuisine Lounge. Eden is Denver’s premier women’s hang-out located at 3090 Downing Street. All Tranzcend shows are 18+. Doors open at 8pm with the show beginning at 9pm.
