it's okay bar
I don't really care if the crowd is as bitchy as some people said in their reviews. I always go there with my bf and friends and there's nothing special about that place other than it takes forever to get your drinks. I pass it on school nights driving by and it seems like it's always full, every night. Do gays work? lol the worst thing about this bar is that music is always to loud and bounces off the walls. That's annoying. So we usually don't stick around for more than couple drinks.
Very crowded!
It does get packed on weekends! Whew! I guess if you're basing number one on the draw of people then yes it certainly qualifies. Denver is a tough place to find a bar or club that is warm, laid back and friendly. JR's has good nights and not so good nights on the warm and friendly. I wish they were more consistent and the clientele would relax, accept their beauty and be gracious about it all.
Friendly, good drinks, great eye-candy
I recently visited a younger friend in Denver who likes this bar. I found the bar a nice place to enjoy a drink and cruise the guys. I didn't notice any major attitude; the drinks were well made and compared to where I come from reasonably priced. Saturday night was fun, Sunday afternoon was packed with boys in tanks and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves on a very warm afternoon (it was really to warm inside, don't know why they didn't have the windows open)....the patio was great.
Stand and pose . . .
Denver is known for sporting some attitude, and you will definitely find it at the "stand and pose" bar of JR's. JR's is sort of the "default" bar for many, and you will generally find at least some people there on just about any night (select nights get packed). I honestly don't go here all that often, but they are supportive of the community and sponsor things. I play flag football and they are a sponsor of the league, so we go here periodically. Thursday night is a big night at JR's for their cheap beer night. They generally have something going on every night (bingo, karaoke, etc). If you don't know where to go, start here.
